Brumberg develops modular LED spotlights for retail concepts

A customized lighting concept with LED spotlights makes a significant contribution to sales success. Brumberg has now succeeded in rethinking parameters such as flexibility, efficiency and quality. With the ModulMax LED spotlights, there are now track and recessed spotlights available that are completely modular. From the converter to the housing, the front ring, the light engine to the light color and the reflector, all components can be individually assembled. This results in far more than 4,000 configuration variants - in a homogeneous design. Even more designs will be presented at EuroShop in March 2017. For example, directional spotlights are now also available as semi-recessed and surface-mounted variants, as well as another track-mounted spotlight design with a horizontally positioned converter. These configuration options can be visualized and put together particularly clearly with the new online configurator, which will also be presented for the first time at EuroShop. This is groundbreaking modularity that could not be more contemporary - designed for modern retailers and the latest retail sales strategies.

Consistent brand quality with easy handling

This innovation was made possible by a design of the modular LED spotlights that has been thought through down to the last detail and the consistent brand quality of the individual components. This guarantees simple and safe handling. The components of the ModulMax LED spotlights can be replaced easily - and without tools - if required. This significantly reduces the effort required for mounting and converting the track and recessed spotlights. In addition, the energy efficiency of ModulMax LED spotlights is impressive, with very good temperature management, optimum luminous efficacy and a high lumen package.

Sophisticated down to the last detail

The modular design is based on a sophisticated concept that combines the uniformity of the luminaire design with maximum flexibility in the composition of the spotlight. To be ready for replacement, the components of the ModulMax LED spotlights meet the highest quality requirements. For this purpose, Brumberg relies on tested components from renowned brand manufacturers.

Precise coding

Important quality features of the components are material thickness, fitting accuracy and cable lengths for the mechanical components as well as lumen intensity, luminous efficacy and color fidelity for the LED elements. Precise coding supports easy assembly according to the principle: insert, snap in - done. This provides reliable protection against twisting and the modules are automatically fixed in the correct position.

Uniform luminaire design

For the configuration of LED spotlights, the ModulMax range offers more than 4,000 variants. Personal advice on the optimum configuration is part of the Brumberg service. Once the LED spotlights have been selected, the tracklights are delivered fully assembled in the desired configuration. In the store, the homogeneous luminaire design ensures balanced aesthetics. This draws the customer's attention specifically to the brand messages and products.

The modules of the ModulMax LED spotlights

The converter

Selected brand converters tested by Brumberg connect the ModulMax LED spotlights to a track system. The converters are equipped with a universal adapter that is compatible with almost all common 3-phase track systems. For a connection to older 3-phase rails or to Dali rail systems of different manufacturers, the adapter can be exchanged.

The housing

The housing of the spotlights is available in the standard colors white, black and silver. "RAL of choice" is possible on a project-by-project basis. Then the ModulMax LED spotlights are painted in individually selected RAL colors. Brand labels, such as a product or company logo, can also be applied to the spotlights. Thanks to the sophisticated snap-in coding, even small details such as the cooling slots in the housing cover are always automatically fixed in the same place. In this way, all the spotlights mounted in the store come together to form a harmonious overall appearance in a uniform luminaire design.

The front ring

The front ring can be configured with or without glass or with glass color filters. The quality light glass ensures high luminous efficacy and virtually reflection-free view through and in. This ensures energy efficiency and emphasizes the value of the products, which can be presented in a sales-promoting manner with the high-quality light glass in the front ring.

The Light Engine

The entire light engine is mounted in the LED spotlight "with a twist". It can be replaced just as easily if required. The heat sink, including the chip and cable connection, is conveniently rotated into the track spotlight using the practical handle bars.

With the heat sink specially developed for the LED chips, Brumberg guarantees a constant housing temperature with top values: Tc value 43° Celsius at 24.3Watt LED output, Tc value 51° Celsius at 37.5Watt LED output. The reduced heat load has a positive effect on the service life of the LED chips and the light output. As a result of the good temperature management, less energy is required for air conditioning the stores.

ModulMax LED spotlights are equipped with high-quality brand chips of the latest generation. Brumberg has a wide range of six LED chip types available for various retail applications. Other special LED chips are available on request.

The light color

With the special BBL LED chip (English: Below Black Body Locus) Brumberg offers an interesting lighting variant with 3000K. The light color is below the Planck curve. This reduces the amount of green not needed in the light, which is at 2700 Kelvin, 3000 Kelvin and 3500 Kelvin on the Planck curve. The findings are based on a study by the American Light Research Center.

The changed color location of the BBL chip is ideal for lighting fashion stores. The colors appear more brilliant and white garments in particular are given more radiance. The LED version with 3500 Kelvin is equally recommendable. This allows blue and black to be distinguished particularly well, making it easier to select menswear. But special light engines for the various FOOD areas, such as meat (1700K-2000K), bread (2400K-2500K), pasta/cheese (2600K-2900K) and for fruit, vegetables and fish (4900K-5100K). can also be configured.

The reflector

With beam angles of 12°, 24°, 36° or 60°, ModulMax LED track spotlights can be used both for illuminating larger areas and for spot accent lighting of presentation areas and shelving systems. The bayonet lock ensures easy mounting and interchangeability of the reflector. The front ring is also easy to insert and is automatically fixed in the correct position by the coding. This allows the reflection angles to be changed as required without great effort.

Overall, the ModulMax LED track spotlights produce a very harmonious light pattern that meets the highest demands (hotspot: 50%). Chip and reflector are optimally matched to each other to achieve this. Due to the soft transitions, no contours are visible and the outer corona does not show any shading either. This is how stores and products are optimally set in scene.

ModulMax LED recessed spotlight

For low ceiling heights and aisle areas: As a perfect complement to the ModulMax LED track spotlights, Brumberg offers various ModulMax LED recessed spotlights. They are ideal for low ceiling heights and aisle areas. The recessed spotlights are designed according to the same modular principle and are just as easy to install or replace. Optionally, they can be used as rotatable and swiveling or fixed downlights.

Ceiling-tight and with locking mechanism

The quality feature of ModulMax LED recessed spotlights is their ceiling-tight finish. This means that there is no view of ceiling voids even when the luminaire is tilted. The built-in LED spotlights remain opaque. Downlights have only a small gap dimension. During installation, the locking mechanism supports alignment in the horizontal position or at the desired angles. Like the track spotlights, all ModulMax LED recessed spotlights can be individually configured for specific projects.
