Light. For a clean future.

Brumberg helps with state BEG funding.

Climate change is becoming ever more present. Closely linked to this is the issue of energy consumption. How can each individual make a contribution? And how can the state support its citizens? One key way is to significantly improve the energy efficiency of buildings - which inevitably means reducing electricity consumption, e.g. through energy-efficient lighting. The Federal Subsidy for Efficient Buildings (BEG) offers valuable assistance for the purchase of energy-efficient technology in non-residential buildings. As a lighting manufacturer, we show how this works.

Sundern, February 2023: The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection is bundling the existing programs to promote energy efficiency and renewable energies as part of the Climate Protection Program 2030. This means that private building owners and companies now have the opportunity to make sensible investments in non-residential buildings. Anyone who optimizes or replaces their existing lighting systems not only reduces CO2 emissions, but also benefits from the state BEG funding. Added to this are the savings on high energy costs. "It's worth planning energy-efficient solutions now and thus acting in the interests of the environment and your own profitability in the long term," says Benedikt Brumberg. The state provides generous subsidies, but also puts pressure on people. In fact, there will be a phased ban on inefficient light sources from February 2023. The effect of the 'lamp ban' is that defective older light sources will no longer be replaceable in the near future, meaning that the entire system will have to be replaced in the event of a failure at the latest. This is annoying if the BEG subsidy is already passé by then.

Triple sense. For whom?

Anyone who takes measures with a minimum volume of €2,000 (gross) per project can benefit from BEG funding. This applies to companies, private individuals, local authorities and other companies as well as contractors and tenants of properties within Germany. In addition, there is funding for so-called environmental measures such as construction site equipment, assembly, installation and disposal. This can pay off: The subsidy amounts to 15% of the investment costs (net). The maximum funding amount is €5 million. Planning services, such as those provided by the energy efficiency expert involved, are even eligible for a subsidy of up to 50%.

Installing efficient lights. Which ones?

Not all luminaires on the market meet the strict guidelines of the BEG subsidy. Peter Zumdick, our BEG expert, knows what is important: "LED technology is currently the most efficient on the market. We have carefully selected luminaires to ensure maximum energy efficiency, durability and pleasant lighting. And this for the commercial and industrial sectors." Anyone who wants to reduce their carbon footprint and save costs at the same time can now make use of a whole range of technical refinements. "It's not just about the luminaire or spotlight itself, but also about lighting control, i.e. daylight control and dimmability. As a result," says Peter Zumdick, "much more electricity can be saved than many people think."

Apply for funding. And how?

State funding is always accompanied by a few complex bureaucratic hurdles. Finding out about the conditions beforehand is an absolute must. The best example: nothing works without an energy efficiency expert (EEE) - a demonstrably qualified specialist for energy-efficient construction and renovation. Around 13,000 EEEs listed in Germany can and may submit an application for BEG funding. We have a large network of competent specialist partners, our Competence Partners, who can put you in touch with an EEE. We also have internal consultants who are familiar with all the technical and commercial details of BEG funding and can answer any questions you may have. In any case, we recommend using this service and only commissioning qualified specialist partners and installers.
