Plug & Light

Plug & Light has won an award. This was the verdict of the jury of the Innovation Award Architecture + Technology on March 18, 2018, awarding first place in the competition organized by the trade journals AIT and xia intelligente architektur to the light socket. The winners were celebrated and the trophies presented at a special exhibition at Light + Building (Hall 3.0, Stand C20).

"Plug & Light inspires with its innovative approach to rethink conventional sockets. The advantage is that the system can be adapted to existing installations. High modularity and functionality facilitate planning and bring sustainable flexibility for the builder or future user." This was the verdict of the expert jury. For the 20th time, the architecture trade journals AIT and xia intelligente architektur, in cooperation with Messe Frankfurt, offered the Architecture+Technology Innovation Award. The award was presented for the tenth time at Light + Building 2018. The award is aimed at manufacturers of innovative products in the fields of luminaires, lighting components and electrical engineering, as well as architects and interior designers working in this field. The aim of the competition is to award prizes to those product solutions that meet the requirements of modern architecture in a special way. Functional and design quality, material authenticity and diversity of possible applications are decisive criteria for the award. The response to the Innovation Award was once again high and cross-sectoral this year: 59 products from 37 companies took part in the competition. A five-member jury of renowned architects and interior designers determined the two award winners and a further five placings on March 18, 2018.

Plug & Light brings decorative light directly from the wall or ceiling into the room. The matching light attachments dock onto the light socket via a magnet, and the light can be dimmed immediately without flickering. Once inserted into the light socket, the attachment can be rotated 360° without a stop and can even be replaced during operation. Plug & Light thus makes room and lighting design flexible. Plug & Light also creates new freedom in lighting design. Once the position of the light is fixed, the type of light and luminaire design can be decided and exchanged at any time - even after completion. Lighting design with Plug & Light is wonderfully simple and extremely flexible. In upscale residential construction, for discerning owners as well as in the hospitality sector. Insta is the inventor of the system. Gira and Jung, as Insta's parent companies, have implemented the technology in their switch series. Brumberg was the first lighting manufacturer to develop five matching Plug & Light lighting series.
