Orangery Coworking Space in Solingen.

Modern lighting solutions meet industrial charm.

From listed building to coworking space.

In the heart of Solingen, a historic building dating back to 1913 has been given a new lease of life - a project that harmoniously combines traditional architecture and innovative lighting technology. Once used as a warehouse, the listed building was transformed into a lively coworking space with an integrated restaurant and fitness studio in close collaboration with the experienced architects from Palma Living and the team from the family-run company Roth Elektrotechnik. The lighting played a central role in creating an inviting atmosphere and at the same time highlighting the architectural features of the building.

Customized lighting concepts for multi-sided spaces.

The lighting solutions were specially adapted to the different areas of the building in order to harmonize functionality, design and monument protection requirements. One of the challenges of the project was to preserve the building's historic ceilings unchanged, which made planning the lighting installation particularly demanding. In the MAKU restaurant area, the approx. 0.5 m high "Tube BIG" special luminaires in dim2warm, specially produced for this project, provide pleasant, accentuated illumination. These surface-mounted luminaires were precisely matched to the BRUMBERG LED PCBs. Black MINI LED spotlights and cove lighting in dim2warm round off the lighting scheme in other areas of the restaurant. In the kitchen area, panel luminaires and the BIRO40 lighting channel system ensure an optimum working environment that combines functionality and modern lighting quality. The combination of these innovative lighting solutions creates the ideal atmosphere at any time of day - be it during the day, when the restaurant serves as a versatile event space, in the evening for a cozy dinner with a feel-good ambience, or for atmospheric after-work events.

Industrial style and modern technology in the fitness area.

The fitness area has also been equipped with innovative lighting solutions. The MINI LED track spotlights together with BIRO40 lighting channels create a bright and atmospheric environment. At the same time, dimmable elements were installed in certain zones to promote a relaxed atmosphere. Special attention was paid to the details - the historic stone walls were preserved and black ceiling panels were added to emphasize the industrial character of the space while giving it a modern look.

Coworking space with a lifestyle atmosphere.

The coworking area seamlessly combines a dynamic and collaborative workplace with a modern lifestyle. With a focus on versatility and innovation, the lighting solutions in this area were implemented using surface-mounted installation technology that allows it to adapt to the existing concrete ceilings. The BIRO40 lighting channel system, complemented by adjustable motorized suspensions, creates a dynamic and adaptable lighting environment in office and meeting spaces. This integration of functional lighting and pioneering design ensures that the coworking space is not just a place to work, but also a vibrant hub for creativity and collaboration.

Lighting technology as the key to success.

With modern, energy-efficient lighting solutions, this project shows how historical buildings can be transformed into a multifunctional living space using contemporary technologies. "With the innovative lighting solutions from BRUMBERG, both standard and special solutions, we have managed to preserve the charm of the building and at the same time meet the different requirements of multifunctional use," summarizes Frank Roth, owner of Klaus Roth Stiftung & Co KG. The surroundings combine residential, commercial and leisure areas to create a harmonious whole that inspires both users and visitors.
